URLの正規化、「301リダイレクト」の設定
これはWordpressに限ったことではないのですが、通常ドメインというものはwww.をつけてもつけなくても同じサイトにアクセスされますよね？人間にとってはどちらもそれほど違いはなく不便に感じることはあまりないですがロボットには違うurlとして区別されています。

http://www.sample.com
http://sample.com

同じ内容で違うアドレスなのですから、重複とみなされるわけですね。するとどうなるのか。
重複したページの分被リンクが分散し、クローラーは重複したどちらかを適正とみなして片方をフィルタリングします。SEO的には最悪ですね。

一番有効的な対策としてはurlを統一化する「301リダイレクト」の利用。
.htaccessに以下の記述を。（sample.comを変更するのを忘れずに！）

.wwwアリに統一する場合

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^sample\.com
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.sample.com/$1 [R=301,L]

ナシに統一する場合

Options +FollowSymLinks

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.sample\.com
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://sample.com/$1 [R=301,L]

301リダイレクトに似ているものとしてヤフー、MSN、グーグルが取り入れているlink rel=”canonical”があるが微妙に違うみたい。

番外編：
パーマリンク
Wordpressのデフォルトのリンク形式 ?p=123 はクローラー（GoogleやYahooなど検索エンジンのデータ回収プログラム）に動的ページとみなされるため、HTMLなどで吐き出される静的ページに比べ適しておらず、SEO的に弱いとされています。
パーマリンクはwp-admin/options-permalink.phpでCustom Structure（日本語バージョンではカスタム構造）を選択、必ずパーマリンクの変更を。
